Good news. On August 30, Netflix announced that it has renewed The Lincoln Lawyer for a third season. This next round will be 10 episodes and based on the fifth book in Michael Connelly’s Lincoln Lawyer series, The Gods of Guilt.

Confirmed returning cast members include Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Mickey (really, could we even have a show without him?), Becki Newton as Lorna, Jazz Raycole as Izzy, Angus Sampson as Cisco, and Yaya DaCosta as Andrea Freemann, among others.
Neve Campbell will not return for season 3, reports The Hollywood Reporter—that is not too surprising since her character, Maggie McPherson, is not in book five, though she may return in future seasons.

The week of July 3-9, The Lincoln Lawyer season 2 debuted with a second-place ranking globally among all Netflix TV series, and the following week, it hit number one on the global and U.S. lists, according to the streaming platform’s reporting. As of August 29, the show has racked up a cumulative 40 million views and reached the top 10 list in 81 countries, said Netflix.
What’s more, season 1 saw a surge in July and August viewership too, independently earning spots on Netflix’s global top 10 list for five weeks and on the U.S. top 10 list for three.
With numbers like that, it is no surprise The Lincoln Lawyer was a shoo-in for a season 3 renewal. In 2022, after the similar success of season 1, Netflix renewed the show one month after its debut. This time, the streaming platform made its decision just shy of four weeks after the release of the second half of season 2.
Is there a release date for The Lincoln Lawyer season 3?
Not yet, and the actors’ and writers’ strikes will inevitably delay things. Season 2 of The Lincoln Lawyer was released about a year after Netflix announced the show’s renewal and just over eight months after the start of filming. But in the current circumstances, we can’t venture a guess. (Update: the writers’ strike ended September 28, and the actors’ strike ended November 9.)

Season 3 will be adapted from the book The Gods of Guilt, and although there will surely be some changes, we know the basics. Mickey will defend Julian Lacosse, portrayed in the season 2 finale by Devon Graye, who stands accused of murdering S.E.X worker and recurring character Gloria Dayton (alias, Glory Days), played by Fiona Rene.
To further complicate matters, Gloria was a former friend and client of Mickey’s. The last time he saw her, Mickey thought he had helped her get on track for a better life, but as he looks for her real killer to prove his client’s innocence, he may have to come to terms with the knowledge that his own actions put her in danger.
