Netflix has been on a serial killer bender, first dropping a hit limited series, Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, which tells a fictionalized account of the gruesome murders committed by notorious serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.
Dahmer targeted and killed 17 men between the late 1970s and early 1990s before he was sent to prison and eventually murdered by a fellow inmate.

Now, Netflix has another feature dropping on Oct. 7 providing even more details about Dahmer and his crimes. But this time, the film features the very real people who were present during his trial. This three-part docuseries is called Conversations With A Killer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Tapes, and includes never-before-heard tapes with his defense team, including Dahmer’s young defense lawyer, Wendy Patrickus.
But who is Wendy Patrickus and where is she now? Here’s what you need to know.
Who is Wendy Patrickus?
Wendy Patrickus was one of two people on serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer’s defense team after his arrest in July of 1991.

Patrickus received her bachelor’s degree from St. Norbert College and her law degree from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School. She has been practicing since 1989, according to LinkedIn, which mentions her role in the Jeffrey Dahmer trial.
She was really young when she was assigned to his case.
Patrickus was just 25 and had recently graduated from law school when she had to defend Dahmer, according to a book she later wrote. She notes on LinkedIn that she was second chair in the State of Wisconsin v. Jeffrey Dahmer case.
Patrickus hasn’t shared much about her time with Dahmer.
In fact, this documentary marks Patrickus’ third major discussion about her experience defending Dahmer, per The Sun. One of those instances included co-authoring a 320-page book about her work on the case, Defending the Devil: Inside the Trial of My Client, Jeffrey Dahmer, which she published in 2021 along with Rusty Lemorande, a film producer, writer, and member of the California and Wisconsin State bar.

Patrickus has detailed her interactions with Jeffrey in her book, and shared more than 20 hours of private recordings of her conversations with Jeffrey, even describing how she formed an “uncomfortable bond” with Dahmer.
In the Netflix documentary, Patrickus also discusses how she felt that she was in over her head during the trial. ”When I first went to see him, it was a very small interview room,” she said in the documentary, per The Sun. ”There was Jeff sitting in the corner of the table. I was incredibly nervous, because this is something that I felt was way over my head. I felt like Clarice Starling in The Silence of the Lambs.”
She also shared that Jeffrey had trouble discussing his crimes.

Wendy Patrickus is still a lawyer practicing in the Milwaukee area. She has her own law firm, called Patrickus Law, whose website says Patrickus has been “strategically guiding clients through Wisconsin’s justice system for nearly 25 years.”
She’s run Patrickus Law for nearly 18 years now, according to LinkedIn. She’s also a member of the State of Wisconsin Bar Association Professionalism Committee and Milwaukee Bar Association, per Avvo.
