4. Receive text messages through your wireless carrier’s website

Depending on who your wireless service provider is, you may be able to receive texts from your own carrier’s website.

If you have Verizon for example, you can sign into your My Verizon Account, where you can send and receive texts, photos, and videos. Verizon users can also download the desktop application for their computers through their My Verizon account.

You can do the same through a My AT&T account as well.

These are the steps to receiving messages through AT&T’s website:

Click on the message to view the details.

Some wireless carriers (including T-Mobile) offer desktop apps, so you don’t have to keep yet another tab open on your browser. Still, these apps are pretty simplistic compared to more modern desktop texting options.

The challenge with texting through a wireless carrier’s website is mainly, the lack of advanced texting capabilities.

5. Using text to email

You can also use text to email to receive texts on your computer. The only catch here is that the text you receive will be in the form of an email and not a text but you can still reply to it and it’ll be delivered as an SMS to the recipient. These are the steps you should follow to send a text from an email:

Step-1: Log in to your Email account.Step-2: Click on the ‘+’ sign or the ‘compose’ in the top left corner of your Email to compose the message.Step-3: In the “To” section enter the Email ID IE the 10-digit phone number of the recipient followed by the carrier gateway extension For example- If your phone number is 11223344 and your carrier is AT&T, then your ID will look like this: [email protected] (please refer the table below for all major carrier extensions)
