Many people also use mobile devices for gaming and entertainment purposes. Most young people now consume TV streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon TV on tablets, and many gaming and betting companies are now focusing more on customers who use handheld devices to provide a more user-friendly experience. We’ll hook our devices to projectors for presentations in meetings then take them home and pair them with our TVs to watch the latest series. Like our work monitors, our domestic TVs could become mirrors for whatever device we pair them with.

There may come a time when desktop computers in the home become obsolete for many of us, but what about PC gamers? This is one area where PCs may still have a place. Even though more PC gamers are switching to consoles and cloud gaming, there are still millions around the world who are determined to hang on to their beloved hardware and all the benefits they bring. But as fewer PCs are made, there is a possibility that technology could stagnate, and we will see more gamers ditch their towers for consoles. PC gaming technology is booming right now and the fan base remains strong but the next generation of consoles will rival computers for power and performance, and will put this theory to the test.
Technology moves fast, but humans take a little longer to adapt. We tend to cling on to what we are familiar with until we’re forced to make a change. And those of us who still covet our laptops and desktops may have to rethink our priorities soon.
