Does Loom And Leaf Offer Financing

It’s time for another mattress comparison! In today’s comparison I’m pitting two of my favorite mattresses against each other in the ultimate battle. In one corner we have the Loom & Leaf by Saatva, a luxury brand well-known for using high-end materials.

In the other corner we have the original Leesa mattress. Leesa is a start-up company that launched at the end of 2014, but has quickly established itself as one of the biggest and best players in the online mattress world.

Leesa vs Loom & Leaf: Similarities and Differences

Before we get in too deep, let’s go over a few key similarities and differences between these two beds. Though they’re made with similar materials, they actually feel pretty different! For more in-depth info, I’d encourage you to check out the full Leesa mattress review or full Loom & Leaf mattress review.

Similarities

  • Both of these beds are all-foam mattresses. This means they don’t include any pocketed or innerspring support coils in their support layers.
  • Both mattresses include a bit of pressure-relieving memory foam, though the Loom & Leaf uses quite a bit more memory foam than the Leesa.

Differences

  • The Loom & Leaf offers more deep compression support than the Leesa, which means it will be able to support heavier sleepers.
  • The Leesa is more affordable than the Loom & Leaf mattress, which is an important factor to consider.
  • The Loom & Leaf’s high-quality memory foam top layer isolates motion better than the Leesa’s poly foam top layer. This means it will feel less bouncy than the Leesa.
  • The Leesa uses less memory foam than the Loom & Leaf mattress, so it will naturally sleep cooler.

Which is Better for You?

Loom & Leaf

Let’s also take a moment to talk about which sleepers these two beds are best for.

  • If you’re a side sleeper you’ll probably prefer the softer Loom & Leaf model, which offers more pressure relief than the Leesa.
  • If you sleep hot you’ll probably prefer the Leesa, it sleeps quite a bit cooler than the memory-foam heavy Loom & Leaf mattress.
  • If you’re a back sleeper looking for a firm, balanced foam feel you’ll probably prefer the Leesa.
  • If you’re a stomach sleeper you need an extra-firm mattress, and should opt for the firm model of the Loom & Leaf.
  • If you sleep with a partner the Loom & Leaf might be the best choice. You won’t feel too disturbed by a restless partner on this bed.
  • If you’re a heavier sleeper (over 230 lbs) the Loom & Leaf should work better for you. It offers a lot of deep compression support, which is very important for heavier sleepers.

Leesa vs Loom & Leaf Mattress Feel Comparison

Now that you have a brief overview of who these beds might be best for, let’s talk about how they each feel!

Keep in mind that feel is subjective, and will vary depending on your body weight and preferred sleeping positions. I had a few coworkers test out both of these bed-in-a-box mattresses, so the scores below reflect the average of our experiences.

Leesa vs Loom & Leaf firmness graphic
The Leesa and both Loom & Leaf models on the mattress firmness scale.

Leesa

The Leesa mattress is a firmer feeling foam bed. I’d rank it at about 7 out of 10 on the mattress firmness scale. For reference, a 6.5 out of 10 is medium firm.

When you first lie down on the Leesa you’ll feel an immediate responsiveness from the top layer of foam. It offers enough sinkage that you get a little hug, but not so much that you feel stuck. That said, the Leesa was not particularly bouncy, so combination sleepers may want to opt for a more responsive bed.

I’d especially recommend this combination of pressure relief and support to back sleepers who enjoy a firmer feel. The Leesa should offer them the lumbar support they need to keep their spines neutrally aligned.

The Leesa also sleeps nice and cool thanks to the cooling foams it uses in its construction. So I’d really recommend it to hot sleepers. Memory foam can have trouble with heat retention, so the Loom & Leaf sleeps a little warmer than this mattress.

Loom & Leaf

The Loom & Leaf is available in two firmness options. The relaxed firm model (the mattress I tested and reviewed) is about a 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale. So it’s definitely a soft mattress. Their firmer model, the Loom & Leaf firm, is an 8 out of 10 on the firmness scale. This firmness level could be a great fit for stomach sleepers.

I’ll discuss the relaxed firm model here, since that’s the one I’m most familiar with. This Loom & Leaf is dominated by memory foam and has a traditional soft feel. I’d recommend this model to side sleepers looking for some plush body-contouring. It should offer a lot of cushion around their pressure points. This bed also does a great job isolating motion transfer, which might be a nice perk for couples.

The Loom & Leaf is one of the thickest mattresses I’ve tested. This means it will provide amazing deep compression support, which is especially important if you’re a heavier sleeper. The improved deep compression support ensures consistent support regardless of your size.

Comparing Leesa and Loom & Leaf Mattress Materials

Let’s take a look under the covers of these bad boys to see how they’re constructed.

Leesa

The Leesa is a 10″ all-foam mattress.

Cover — The Leesa cover is made of a cozy twill fabric that’s soft to the touch. It also encourages airflow throughout the mattress.

Comfort Layer — The Leesa’s top layer is a breathable poly foam. It’s a cooling layer that hot sleepers should appreciate. It’s also a fairly responsive foam, which is nice if you like to feel more “on top of” than “stuck in” your mattress.

Transition Layer — Up next, you’ll find a traditional memory foam layer that offers some body contouring and sinkage, especially around the lower back.

Base Layer — Rounding out the Leesa is a thick layer of high-density foam that offers durability and shape.

Loom and Leaf

The Loom & Leaf is a 12″ memory foam mattress.

Cover — This mattress uses a 100% organic cotton cover. It has a soft feel and great breathability. It’s also quilted with an extra layer of super soft foam for some extra pressure relief.

Comfort Layer — The top layer of foam in the Loom & Leaf is a cooling gel-infused foam. This layer offers some nice sinkage and helps mitigate a bit of the heat-trapping tendency of the memory foam below it. It also does a great job conforming to your body shape.

Transition Layer — Next up is a thick layer of ultra-premium five pound memory foam. This layer offers great pressure relief and body contouring. This is the layer that offers the deep compression support I mentioned earlier.

Base Layer — The Loom & Leaf is supported by a thick layer that combines poly foam with high-density support foam. It acts as a foundation, is breathable, and provides shape.

Below, I list some of my favorite features of each to help you decide which could be best for you.

Leesa Best Features

back sleeping on the Leesa
The Leesa is great for back sleepers.
  • If you’re a back sleeper looking for a balanced feel the Leesa might work for you. It does a nice job combining pressure relief and support as well as offering a mix of responsiveness and body contouring.
  • If you sleep hot, the cooler Leesa is going to be the best pick for you.
  • The Leesa is the cheaper of the two mattresses in this comparison, so if you’re budget-conscious this could be the better choice for you.

Loom & Leaf Best Features

Loom & Leaf side sleeper
I like the Loom & Leaf for side sleepers.
  • Side sleepers looking for lots of plush sinkage will prefer the Loom & Leaf mattress, which offers the body-contouring feel memory foam mattresses are known for.
  • Stomach sleepers might prefer the firm model of this bed, which should offer them enough support to keep their spines neutrally aligned.
  • If you’re a heavier sleeper you should opt for the Loom & Leaf. Its thicker profile offers some of the best deep compression support on the market right now.

Comparing Leesa and Loom & Leaf Customer Service

Below, I’ll give each mattress’s customer service team a score of Stellar, Great, Satisfactory, or Poor based on my own experience interacting with each team.

Leesa Sleepopolis Customer Service Rating

Great: I gave Leesa a Great score because their customer service team emailed me a very thoughtful response to my question (and returned my call). But, they didn’t have someone manning their phones or chat feature when I called so I did have to wait for a response. If you call during normal working hours, this shouldn’t be an issue for you.

Saatva Sleepopolis Customer Service Rating

Satisfactory: I gave Saatva a Satisfactory score because there was a bit of a wait to connect with an agent. But, it wasn’t more than 15 minutes and I was connected with a very helpful representative who thoughtfully answered my questions.
